Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve Tour is a paradise for souvenir hunting. Dhorpatan is the only hunting reserve which is established in 1987 under the rules and regulation of government. It covers an area of 1,325 km² in the Dhaulagiri Himal of western Nepal in the Rukum, Myagdi and Baglung Districts. The reserve is the only protected area in the country where licensed hunting is allowed. Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is dividing in six hunting block for the management of best sports trophy hunting, stop poaching, and preserve a representative eco system.
Brahmin, Chhetri, Sunar, Thakali, Tibetan , Magar are the ethnics group of this region. There is mixed pattern of culture, tradition, dresses, and language too. One can see mind-blogging view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and virgin peak Machhapurche (fishtail) ridge form here.
Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is one of the prime habitats of blue sheep, a highly prized trophy animal, which is the main target of hunters. Other game species are ghoral, serow, Himalayan tahr, black bear, pheasant and partridge. Whereas an endangered species like Red Pandas and Cheer Pheasants are strictly prohibited for hunting. Besides hunting, Dhorpatan is also an attractive destination for the trekkers and wildlife enthusiasts protection has enabled animal numbers to increase in this rarely visited area.
The hunting License is issued by the Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation in Kathmandu and there are a few hunting outfitters who can make arrangements for expeditions. The other common tree species are fir Abies pindrow, pruce Picea smithiana, juniper Juniperus recurva, pine Pinus wallichiana, birch Betula utilis, rhododendron, hemlock Tsuga dumosa etc.
The Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve Tour is opened for Public in the month of September to May. The month of March to April is considered as the best season to explore Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve.
We drive to Beni passing through Trisuli River at first. After that we drive to Marsyandi River and small hill towns to the Seti River that takes directly into Pokhara. The drive from here goes through uphill into off beat road all the way to Naudanda. It than goes up through Nayapul. On the way we can fabulous views of Annapurna South, Fish tail, green hills, terraces and villages. To reach Beni, our drive moves along the Kaligandaki River.
making ‘Khukuri’. Khukuri is the curved Nepali weapon used for weapon as well as tool. In Every house in the village at least one person has adept the skill of Khukuri making. We can see Dhaulagiri Himal from Dharapani.
This remote area with stream and gorges will be a wonderful place to explore. The beautiful landscape added beauty.
In this trek we can see mixed forests of Rhododendron & Oak etc. The scenery of beautiful forest, high mountains including Dhaulagiri Himal, Gurju Himal, Churen Himal, Putha Himal etc can be observed on the Way of Lamsung to Dhorpatan.
The trail descends up to Khahare Khola. After crossing it the trails goes ahead on the bank of the stream and through mixed forests to reach Dhorpatan. It’s a fantastic place in the middle of the jungle.
We can see different types of animals like Leopard, goral, Himalayan Tahr, black bear, barking deer & other many animals. Birds species and plants species include fir, pine, birch, rhododendron, hemlock, Juniper, spruce & up to 36 species of flora can be observed. The reserve includes several villages’ people by hill tribes as well as people of Tibetan descent who supplement farming with trade and animal husbandry. You can also see Monastery, Chortens and local market. Wooden roofs are another attraction of trekkers. We can also learn typical life style of people in this place.
Life style of people & others many beautiful scenarios of western Himalayans can be observed in the way to Bobang.
Our trek continuously goes towards Burtibang from Bobang.
On the way from Burtibang to Beni we can see forest, green hills, rivers, streams and other beautiful things.
Today we drive towards pokhara from Baglung. In afternoon our program is Sightseeing in beautiful place of pokhara. We can see famous David falls and Siddhishowr cave.
After breakfast in Pokhara, we drive to Kathmandu by Tourist Bus. It will take about 7 hours from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 1st : Arrival in Kathmandu Nepal
Day 2nd : Chartered Helicopter Flight to Dhorpatan (2860Mtr. )
Day 3rd -6th : Hunting Period. Overnight at Tent.
Day 7th : Chartered Helicopter Flight to Kathmandu from Dhorpatan (2860Mtr. )

We went on a short tour to Bhutan and wow what an amazing place! It is so beautiful with its mountain regions and traditional culture. Visiting Tigers Nest monetarist was definitely the highlight of the Bhutan trip. We later returned to Kathmandu and made our way to Pokhara where we took off for the Annapurna Base Camp trek. This was my first time trekking and my fitness level is not the best but Badri and the boys (the sherpa's) were great at catering the trip to our needs. All timings along the way were perfect and we all got to ABC and back without a hitch. Badri and the boys made us feel like we were part of their family and were all smiles and fun. We all played cards together of a night where they taught us to play Dumbal and we taught them Uno. They went above and beyond to cater for us and were watching us like hawks for signs altitude sickness as we got closer to the top. All guest houses that we stayed out were pleasant and all had hot showers. Badri was well respected by the locals along the way and we were welcomed everywhere we went. I actually felt like a bit of a VIP on the mountain when we were trekking with Badri!
I really loved my experience in Nepal and all thanks to Trek Nepal Himalayas. I'm going to miss these guys and can't wait to go back!
I recently spent three and a half weeks holidaying in Nepal with Trek Nepal Himalayas. My partner and I arrived a few days early from the organised tour and Badri from Trek Nepal Himalayas was very accommodating to us by organising our extra accommodation, picking us up from the airport, and organised an extra day tour for us to Nagarkot which was really nice. They also arranged for us to visit the old palace (now a museum) and the Garden of dreams. After the rest of the group arrived we did some sight seeing around Kathmandu visiting the monkey temple, durbar square, the Boudhanath temple and the crematorium.
Our guide Nawin and and other guides arranged throughout the tour were all very knowledgeable of the history of each place that we visited and gave good commentary along the way. Next we went on a day trip to Badri's village. In organising this tour, our group wanted to help out after the earthquake. It turned out Badri's village was badly damaged by the quake and the school was destroyed.
When planing this trip we arranged with Badri for him to take us out to his village so we could make donations of stationary, toys and sporting goods to the school. The village was well off the beaten track and it was a unique opportunity to visit an area that tourists generally don't get to see. The scenery along the way was magic and the drive was quite an adventure. When we arrived the whole village was out to give us a warm friendly welcome with marigold flower necklaces and we each received a blessing. The kids were so excited to see us and were over the moon to receive our donations of stationary, sporting goods and toys.I t was a truly beautiful experience and these memories will stay in my heart forever. This went so well that Badri is now putting together optional side tours for future tour groups to visit his village and villages like his for tourists to make donations to the local schools. I highly recommend you do this as it is such a feel good moment and the emotional joy of it all will is so overwhelming it will make you teary.
A group of us trekked to Everest Base Camp with Trek Nepal Himalayas recently. It was a great trip that was full of memorable moments and amazing views. Our guide Badri was very patient with each of us. He was knowledgeable, encouraging, accommodating and helpful. He not only provided excellent guide services and made sure the group had a safe trip, but also took care of his porter team. Our trip wouldn’t be this successful without the encouragement and support from Badri and the assistant guide Karan. During the time we stayed in Kathmandu, Badri and his staff offered great assistance to ensure we had a great time. If you are planning to visit Nepal, I highly recommend Trek Nepal Himalayas.
Three weeks with Trek Nepal Himalayas was an incredible experience. Our adventure included a day tour of Kathmandu, Everest flight with champagne at sunrise, flights to Bhutan with a few days touring around there. Our highlight in Bhutan was the climb to Tiger's Nest monastery and the amazing views from there.
Ten days trekking to Annapurna Base camp was wonderful. Our guide Badri made sure all our needs were met along the way. Nawin, our first in charge was very accommodating as well as the other 3 porters who lugged our stuff so we only had to carry a day pack.
Sunrise at Poon Hill was a must as well as putting up prayer flags at sunrise at the summit of our trip, Annapurna base camp. Just fab.
