This morning, we flew from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is a town which is situated in western Nepal and near to Nepal-India Border. Upon our arrival in Nepalgunj to our hotel. We will have enough time to explore around Nepalgunj. We stay overnight at Nepalgunj.

From Nepalgunj, we will take the scenic flight to Jhupal(2475 meters). It will take about 45 minutes to reach Jhupal. Jhupal is the starting point of Lower Dolpo. From Jhupal, we will trek to Dunai, which is the administrative headquarters of the Dolpo Region. Overnight at Tea House.

Tarakot is our today`s destination of the Lower Dolpo trek. With five to six hours of walking, we will reach the beautiful village of Tarakot. We stay overnight at the Tea House.

The fabulous place Laini is our today`s destination. We will be trekking to Laini, walking through terraces and rural villages. Our 6-7 hours of walking will be paused in Laini overnight. Overnight in Laini.

It is an exciting day for trekking as our trails follow the Tarap River gorge and lead us to today’s destination, Nawarpani. Overnight at Nawarpani.

The stunning place Do Tarap(4090 meters) is your today`s destination for overnight. Do Tarap, a village surrounded by an irregular stone wall where a few Tibetan and more Magars people used to live. Tarap is a valley where Bon Po and Chaiba live together. Overnight at Tea House.

Today is our lingering day at Tarap. An acclimatization day Explore around Tarap, visit some monasteries and enjoy your rest day. Overnight at Tarap.

From Tarap, today we will set off to Numa La Base Camp for overnight. Tokyu, a village with a monastery that belongs to the Chiba Sect is the main highlight of today’s walk, overnight at Numa La Base Camp.

The challenging journey to Pelung Tang (4465 meters) is today`s mission of Lower Dolpo Trek. From Numa La Base Camp, our trail steeply ascends to Numa La Pass (5,190m.), which offers magnificent views of the mountains of Dolpo up to Dhaulagiri (8,167m.). Then, it descends to Pelung Tang overnight.

Today, we will pass through Baga La from Pelung Tang. The Dajok Tang is a fabulous viewpoint for the snowcapped Kanjirowa Himal range and surrounding landscapes. After crossing Baga La cross, we will descend to Dajok Tang. We stay overnight at the Tea House.

It is an easy trekking day when we trek to Ringmo through the silent pine forest. Overnight at Ringmo.

Today is ours to enjoy and relax by exploring Ringmo and visiting Phoksundo Lake. Walk around Ringmo, visit some Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries and take a walk to the deepest Lake of Nepal, Phoksundo. Overnight at Tea House.

Shyanta is our today`s destination for overnight. From Ringmo, we first descend to Cheka then we pass several villages to reach today’s destination Shyanta. Overnight at Tea House.

Today is our last day of Lower Dolpo Trek. After breakfast, we will trek back to Jhupal via Sulighat. After reaching Jhupal, we can either explore around or simply can take a rest. Overnight at Jhupal.

Day to conclude our lower Dolpo trek. We first fly to Nepalgunj from Jhupal. From Nepalgunj, we will catch an available flight back to Kathmandu. As you arrive in Kathmandu, your guide will help you to get to your hotel. The evening will be for a farewell dinner with the Trek Nepal Himalayas team.

Best Seasons for Lower Dolpo Trekking

The best months to trek to Lower Dolpo are from May to mid-November when the weather is warm and pleasant. However, during the monsoon months of July and August, the flight schedule from Nepalgunj can be disrupted, making it difficult to access the region. The ideal time to visit Lower Dolpo is during September and October when the weather is still pleasant and there is less chance of disruption in the flight schedule.

Food and Accommodation During Lower Dolpo Trekking

Lower Dolpo is one of Nepal’s most remote and isolated regions, with limited transportation and communication options. The trails are less developed than in other trekking regions, with few tea houses. The food served in the tea houses is quite limited and basic, with the menu consisting mainly of Tibetan dishes. The tea houses’ basic rooms may differ from the standards of other trekking regions.

Lower Dolpo Trip Permits

Permits Required for Lower Dolpo Trekking are necessary to preserve this remote and culturally significant region. Lower Dolpo Restricted costs $20 per person per week, whereas entering Lower Dolpo costs $5 per additional day per person. And Shey Phoksundo National Park Entry Permit costs $27 (Rs. 3000) per person. Note: A group of two persons is necessary to obtain the trekking permits from the Department of Immigration. A trekking permit is only available in Dolpo for the national park. You can get help from us to organize special trekking receipts in Kathmandu.
