The Mount Everest Expedition Via South Col route was first time successfully conquered by Tenzing Norge Sherpa & Sir Edmon Hillary `s team in 1953.

Mount Everest Expedition via South Col, besides picturesque mountain views with dramatic landscapes of beautiful Khumbu valley, the green vegetation and alpine woodland is equally captivating with tall rhododendron ,oaks, magnolia, firs, juniper, hemlocks, and pines tree lines.
As the route leads higher up above 4000 meters , where trees lines perish for only short alpine bushes within rugged & harsh country at mere distance of giant mountains.
Khumbu ice fall, glaciers, majesty snowy clad cliff including Mount Everest (8848 M), Mt Ama Dablam (6812 M), Mt Lhotse (8516 M), the historical Tangbouche monastery (Dawa Choling Gompa) was built in 1991 by lama Gulu, exotic sherpa culture, dress up, living style & their hospitality as well diverse landscapes , flora & fauna are the prime attraction of Mount Everest Expedition program.
The month of April to June is considered as the best Mount Everest expedition season from south col of Everest. However, the expedition can be crested during autumn season (September to November) when day is mostly clear.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
A Trek Nepal Himalayas representative will be in Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival at Kathmandu with guest name written play card. After warm greetings in Nepal, trek Nepal representative will escort to respective hotel. Get refreshed from Jetlag. In the evening, you can explore one of the paradises of tourist Thamel Bazar.

Day 02-04: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Mount Everest Expedition
Exploring the UNISCO listed world heritage site during the Kathmandu sightseeing program will be ideal. During our reserve day in Kathmandu we verify all the trekking & expedition gears. We packed all the equipment , & collect necessary permission and paper from Nepal Government concern department for Mount Everest Expedition Vis South Col.
The Crematory place of hindu “Pasupatinath temple”, Syawmbhunath temple “where we get handful monkey” , the place of late King “Kathmandu Durbar Square”, and the light of Asia “Baoudhanath temple” is the world heritage site we explore in Kathmandu.
Day 05: Fly to Lukla 2,886m and walk to Phakding 2,640m – 04 hrs
After 30 Min scenic flight, we can reach at Tenzing–Hillary Airport, Lukla. High winds, cloud cover, and changing visibility often mean flights can be delayed or the airport closed. Mind blowing view of snowy Himalayan ridges, Kathmandu valley will be sensational.
After sorting out gear and getting refreshed start walk to Phakding for overnight. The journey to Phakding leads through unique and beautiful Sherpa farm village. We get bit opportunities to study about culture, tradition and dress up about Sherpa community.
Day 06: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 06 hrs
One of the large town of Khumbu regions Namche Bazar is our set destination for this day. In Namche one can find facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with busy colorful Saturday market.
Today`s trail start after delicious breakfast at Phakding. The route leads through bank of Dudh Koshi River. We reach at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park in monjo village after pleasant walk through the bank of Dudh Koshi River.
From Jorsalle walk leads to cross last high bridge and then with uphill walk for few hours heading towards Namche Bazar.
Day 07: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization
Namche is a quintessential place for acclimatization. We have optional hiking to the Park museum. The museum presents the great range of information about mountaineering, flora fauna with Sherpa culture & Buddhist religion.
Everest View hotel is a stunning place to embark mesmerizing view of mighty Himalayas including Mount Everest & Ama Dablam. Overnight at Hotel/Teahouse.
Day 08: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
After a gracious rest at Namche, morning walk on gradual winding trail into rhododendron woodland, with the breathtaking views of Amadablam, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tharmarserku and Kwangde peaks.
Walk leads to a short descend to Imjatse River at Phunge Tenga. After a refreshing stop climb for few hours into a cool serene forest to Thyangboche Monastery.
Everest, a holy spot as the head lama (Rinpoche) of the monastery resides here. Mountaineers take blessing from high lama or priest for successful climb & safe expedition. Overnight at Tea House.
Day 09: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05 hrs.
After breakfast, we set off from Thyanbouche to Dingbouche through pleasant rhododendron & pine forest. From here, our route leads to cross a bridge over Imja Khola. The last Permanent Village before Everest base camp, Pangbouche Village is our destation after crossing the Imja Khola. The trail is gentle uphill.
Dingboche offers fabulous views of Island / Imjatse Peak, Amadablam North Face , Nuptse and Lhotse mountains, a little higher climb on the ridge offers views of world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu beyond Amphu Labtsa peak. Overnight at Dingbouche.
Day 10-11: Acclimatization Day
Acclimatization in Dingboche is necessary to adjust with high altitude. The Mount Everest Expedition `s team leader will organize daily outings to the adjacent hills with the aim of providing gradual acclimatization.
We hike around Dingbouche in order to slowly increase exposure to altitude. Follow the regime that you have previously found most suitable, in order to give you maximum acclimatization before reaching in Everest base camp. While in Dingboche, we can attend a seminar on high altitude acclimatization at a hospital run by the Himalayan Rescue Association nearby Pheriche. We take acclimatization classes /training before heading towards Lobuche (4930 M).
Day 12: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m – 05 hrs.
On this day, we reach at Lobuche for overnight after 5-6 hours gentle walk. The journey start with short climb to a ridge with prayer monuments and then on gradual trail with slow climb to reach at Thugla (Dugla), here trail from Pheriche valley and Dingboche joins towards Everest Base Camp.
Taboche, Cholatse, Lobuche, Pumori, Amadablam etc. are the splendid Himalayan ridge we can see during this day trip. Overnight at Lobuche.
Day 13: Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp 5, 364 m – 06 hrs
Today is our one of the tough day due to gaining high altitude. On this day trip offers astonishing views of Mount Everest, Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse etc.
After few hours of strenuous scenic walk reaching at Gorakshep as the walk leads over moraine and icy path, Gorakshep a nice small place with some nice lodges on route Everest Base Camp. After breakfast, we have optional hike to Kala Patthar 5545 m. One can embark close view of the world highest mountain mount Everest with surrounding mighty Himalayan ranges.
After capturing breathtaking views of snowy alp, downhill to Gorakshep . From here the leads over ice and moraine. Overnight at Everest Base Camp.
Day 14-15: At base camp acclimatization and preparations
Today is another acclimatization day in Everest base camp. We practice after gathering & sorting out all equipment. Trek Nepal Himalayas guide will brief about using climbing gears, trail & chance of occurrence unseen circumstance. We should prepare mentally and physically before start final climb on the Mount Everest. Our all team member are experienced & have prominent knowledge about mountaineering activities. So, you don`t need to worry about anything.
Day 16-61: (45 days) Ascent of Mount Everest and withdrawal to Base Camp. We have reserved Forty Five days for final bid and ascent of Mt. Everest summit. After final preparation for the great climb to the summit with some technical effort around massive tumbling boulders of Khumbu Ice Falls. it will be an awesome experience.
From Everest base camp at 5,364m, climbing with some technically difficulty over Khumbu Ice-fall, the climbing route will be taken care by our expert climbing guides with necessary secure and safety procedure, from above base camp one requires positive attitude and thinking with physical and much mental effort to attempts the climb a success.
The climbs requires at least 4-5 camps before reaching the summit and on descend also, however with our climb for 20 days, using maximum 4 to 5 camps before reaching top of Everest. The last camp will be at South Col ridge connecting with Lhotse.
The final climb leads to cross last section on Hillary step to reach the top summit. The Hillary step a technical section of this climb beside Khumbu Ice Falls, climbing from South Col route is technically straightforward than the North Col (Tibet side), except for Khumbu Ice falls.
During two week or more one can start loading and carrying gears to Camp I and Camp II, in the Western Cwm. Once everyone is well acclimatized, Camp I will be mostly by-passed en-route for Camp II, which will become an Advance Base Camp. The route to this point will involve crossing the crevasses on ladders, jumaring up serac walls and a long tedious plod-up the Western Cwm.
Camp III will be half way up near Lhotse Face at 7,400 meters high, from here a long rising traverse across the snow slopes, a yellow band of rock and the Geneva Spur, leads to the South Col and Camp IV.
As per right clear and favorable weather conditions following our lead guides and leader to the summit on the roof top of the world at 8,848m (29,028 ft.). Some have measured as 8,850 m high but not yet confirmed.
After a awe-inspiring experience of life time adventure feeling great in high spirit standing at the summit, then descend back safely towards base camp using few camps on route downhill.
Day 62: Clean up the base camp and packing for return journey
We believed on Eco & responsible tourism. So, we clean base camp after all team member reaching at base camp. We check health condition of each member after the great climb of a lifetime experience.
Start packing all climbing gears and disposing garbage in proper sites, where SPPC (Sagarmatha Pollution Control) will check the camp and depositing the litter to take away from the base camp to disposal sites.
Day 63: Trek to Pangboche 3,900 m – 06 hrs
After grand success of Mount Everest Expedition via South Col, we back to Gorakshep. From here walk to Thugla, then downhill to Pheriche on a windy valley after a nice pleasant walk.
This days trail offers jaw-dropping view of Amadablam, Nuptse wall, Lhotse etc. One of the stunning village Pangbouche is our ultimate destination for this day for overnight stay.
Day 64: Trek to Namche Bazaar – 06 hrs.
Walk continues retracing the same route from Pangboche, after crossing a bridge an hour climb to Thyangboche Monastery with amazing scenery. Morning walk continues with descend to Imjatse River at Phunge tenga.
After crossing the bridge a steep uphill for an hour then with gentle winding walk all the way to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop. (Energetic people can use the route to Namche visiting Everest View Hotel or Khumjung and Khunde village)
Day 65: Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.
After delicious breakfast in Namche Bazar set off to Lukla for overnight stay. From Namche on downhill path to Dudh Kosi River bank, and then with few short ups and downs to reach at Sagarmatha National Park entrance and then walk to Monjo village.
After Monjo with short rest retrace the journey back to Lukla on the same gradual scenic route back to Lukla with memorable adventure climb to Mt. Everest. The journey leads through winding trail passing Phakding and Ghat village then with last uphill climb to Lukla. Today we take last dinner in khumbhu region after Mount Everest Expedition via south col.
Day 66: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small plane for a super, scenic flight back to Kathmandu.
On reaching Katmandu domestic terminal Trek Nepal Himalayas guide & staff transfer you back to respective hotels. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 67-68: In Kathmandu with Sightseeing Tour Two days reserved as spare and free day in case of flight delay at Lukla in due to bad weather conditions, with opportunity for sightseeing tour for few hours, on this day where our leader and guide will submit the reports on Mount Everest Expedition `s at concern Nepal Government Tourism department. After an interesting sightseeing back to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities, these two days. we explore some world heritage site during this day including Chagunarayan Temple. Temple represent the culture & history of Hindus religious.
Day 69: Departure Day
After wonderful experience around high Khumbu (Everest) region with successful mount Everest expedition , depart from Nepal to motherland. Trek Nepal Himalayas Pvt Ltd`s representative will give company you to International Airport as per flight schedule. Have a wonderful journey. Hope, see you again.
