The Literal meaning of Pumori is “Unmarried Daughter or the Mountain daughter ” in Sherpa language , was named by Gorge Mallory. Mr. Gerhard Lenser was the first person to reach the summit in 1962 as a part of a German/Swiss team. Pumori is a beautiful pyramid shaped peak bestride in Nepal & Tibet Border in the Mahalangur section of the Himalaya. 7,161 m (23,494 ft) is the elevation of Mt Pumori Alp.Mount Pumori is technically challenging mountain offering sections of wild exposure. We arrange both the logistic support and guided climbing for Mount Pumori expedition.
The climber should have previous mountaineering experience and with excellent physical fitness level. Mount Pumori Expedition is rewarded with enchanting photographic views of snowy mountains including Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse. Mt. Pumori dominates the skyline behind Kalapatther 5643m, which looks like a clump of rock on Pumori Southwest ridge. It also famous as the training peak before climbing Mount Everest.
Mount Pumori expedition is a life time experience as the summit offers mesmerizing view of the surrounding peaks in the Everest region. The best season to conquer this stunning peak is September to November and March to May. Trekking in Nepal Himalayas | Trek Nepal Himalayas
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Trek Nepal Himalayas representative will welcome you , and will assist you to the hotel . Get refreshed from Jetlag . Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02-03 : Kathmandu Sightseeing and preparation for Mt. Pumori Expeditions.
We have reserved Two days in Kathmandu for full preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipment, press meeting and to collect permits from concern Government department for the expeditions.
During sightseeing visit Soyambhunath-The Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath-The crematory place, Boudhanath- Buddhist monastery and Kathmandu Durbar Square-ancient palace place. In the evening enjoy a welcome dinner in authentic Nepali restaurant with cultural program. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04: Scenic flight to Lukla (45 minutes) and trek to Phakding (2,652m. /4-5 hours trekking / 8km approx.)
Early morning take a scenic flight to Lukla. From Lukla, you trek will begin. Meet all crews there and start your trekking to Phakding. A walk via Dudhkoshi River to Phakding is an amazing experience.
The route leads towards many Sherpa farm villages with great views, and the slowly walk reaches you at Phakding village for first overnight in Khumbu region. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 05: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 06 hrs.
The second day of the trekking, take early breakfast and start hiking to Namche Bazar, as the height rises the trek gets exciting. On a clear day, you can see the glimpse of Mount Everest before reaching Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is known as the Sherpa Capital and is the last point to get the gears needed for the trekking. On Namche Bazar one can find facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with busy colorful Saturday market. Overnight at Namche Bazar.
Day 06: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization
It is always better to have an acclimatization day in Namche Bazar which allows your body to adapt the thin air. You can also explore the Sherpa capital in the day time. The museum offers bunch of information about mountaineering, flora- fauna with Sherpa cultures and Buddhist religion.
From here enjoy grand panorama of high snowcapped mountains with Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Everest and stunning peak Amadablam. The stunning place Everest View hotel present more spectacular and crystal clear view of snowy mountains including mount Everest.
Day 07: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs. After a pleasant rest at Namche, morning walk on gradual winding trail into rhododendron woodland, with views of Amadablam, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tharmarserku and Kwangde peaks.
The trail leads to a short descend to Imjatse River at Phunge Tenga, after a refreshing stop climb for few hours into a cool serene forest to Thyangboche Monastery.
A picturesque spot with mesmerizing views of Amadablam, Kangtenga, Tharmarserku, Kwangde and Mt. Everest, a holy spot as the head lama (Rinpoche) of the monastery resides here.
Day 08: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05 hrs.
The Dingbouche (4260 M) is our set destination for this day. After breakfast, we start our journey through into lovely birch-rhododendron and pines forest. After crossing Imja Khola bridge , we follow the uphill path before reaching wonderful Pangboche village with an ancient monastery.
This is the last permanent village before Everest and Lhotse Base Camps, after Pangboche tree lines drops for short rhododendron and juniper bushes. The trail leads to exposed area with views of Mt. Amadablam after crossing a last bridge leading to a climb to reach within beautiful and scenic Imjatse valley at Dingboche for overnight stop.
Dingboche offers spectacular views of Amadablam North Face, Island / Imjatse Peak, Nuptse and Lhotse mountains, a little higher climb on the ridge offers views of world’s 5th highest
Mt. Makalu beyond Amphu Labtsa peak.
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m – 05 hrs.
Wonderful trekking day, along with the way the mighty Himalayas accompany from all sides. Trekking through the Khumbu Glacier moraine. The prayer flags and the stone shrines look just amazing.
On leaving Dingboche, short climb to a ridge with prayer monuments and then on gradual trail with slow climb to reach at Thugla (Dugla), here trail from Pheriche valley and Dingboche joins towards Everest and Lhotse Base Camps. We can embark first views of Mt. Pumori with Taboche, Cholatse, Lobuche, Ama Dablam from Thugla.
Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m climb Kalapathar and walk to Pumori BC 5,400 m.
The route to Pumori base camp Via Gorakshep is quite touch due to gain in altitude. Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse, Lhotse and Mt. Everest is the major snowy cliff one can see during this day trip.
We reach Gorakshep after few hours strenuous scenic walk. The walk leads over over moraine and icy path. Gorakshep is a beautiful small place with some nice lodges on route Pumori and Everest Base Camps, after a break here with optional hike uphill to Kalapathar top at 5,545 m high, offers impressive close view of Mt. Pumori and Mt. Everest with surrounding peaks including Lhotse and Nuptse.
After an eye catching views downhill to Gorakshep and continue walk to Pumori Base Camp as the trail leads over ice and moraine and then ending the day walk at Pumori Base Camp.
Day 11 -12: At base camp acclimatization and preparations.
We have two reserve days at Pumori Base Camp to acclimatize with high elevation. On this day, we gather all climbing gears from the porters and Yaks sorting out the right equipment and planning with some practices before the final climb on top Mount Pumori.
Day 13-24: (12 days) Ascent of Mount Pumori and withdrawal to Base Camp. We have reserved 12 full days for final bid and ascent of Mt. Pumori summit, after final preparation for the great climb to the summit with some technical effort around massive tumbling boulders of ice and snows.
From base camp at 5,400 m high, climbing with some technically difficulty over Ice-rocks and snow, the climbing route will be taken care by our expert climbing guides with necessary secure and safety procedure, from above base camp one requires positive attitude and thinking with physical and much mental effort to attempts the climb a success.

The climbs requires at least 2-3 camps to reach the summit, however with our climb for 12 days, using maximum 3 camps before reaching at summit of Mt. Pumori. The last camp will be at a ridge linking close with Linktrin Himal.
During these days one can start loading and carrying gears to Advance Camp onward to Camp I and Camp II, once everyone is well acclimatized, Camp I will be mostly by-passed en-route for Camp II, which will become an Advance Base Camp. The route to this point will involve crossing crevasses and ice falls, jumaring up serac walls and a long tedious plod-up the designated campsites.
Camp III will be close up near the summit at above 6, 800 meters high, from here a long rising traverse across the snow slopes, leads to the South East Face of Pumori.
As weather permits with clear fine morning follow our lead guide and leaders towards summit on top
7, 161 meter high facing stunning views both side of Mt. Everest North and South with arrays of surrounding high peaks.
After a breathtaking experiences and feeling high on top of the world descend back safely towards base camp using few camps on route downhill.
Day 25-26: At Base Camp to get organized for the climb.
All crew members should reach at base camp to clean up the camp because we believed on eco-tourism. After cleaning, we packed all climbing gears and Loading equipment for yaks and other pack animals with porters, on reaching at base camp after a long tough haul to the alp (top). We enjoy the day with mesmerizing views of mighty Himalayan ranges.
Day 27: Trek to Pangboche 3,900 m – 06 hrs.
After grand success to Pumori summit the trail leads towards Thugla via Gorakshep. From Thugla downhill to Pheriche on a windy valley after a nice pleasant walk.
From Pheriche walk continues with mind-blowing views of Amadablam, Lhotse, Nuptse wall, and then heading downhill and back into lower altitude within tree lines. We leave the altitude in every footstep before reaching Pangboche village for Overnight.
Day 28: Trek to Namche Bazaar – 06 hrs.
Walk continues retracing the same route from Pangboche, after crossing a bridge an hour climb to Thyangboche Monastery with amazing scenery. The trail we travel got many ups and downs. Our path also covers the rhododendron and juniper forest. The wonderful mountain views accompany us all the way back to Namche Bazar.
Day 29: Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.
The journey to Lukla will start after delicious breakfast in Namche Bazar. From Namche on downhill path to Dudh Kosi River bank, and then with few short ups and downs to reach at Sagarmatha National Park entrance and then walk to Monjo village.
After Monjo with short rest retrace the journey back to Lukla on the same gradual scenic route back to Lukla with memorable adventure climb to Mt. Everest, last day walk back to Lukla on a gradual winding trail passing Phakding and Ghat village then with last uphill climb to Lukla for lunch & overnight.
Day 30: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
Early in the morning after breakfast, we take scenic flight to Kathmandu in fine clear weather. Sometime the flight schedule may postpone or delayed due to bad weather and low visibility.
On reaching Katmandu domestic terminal Trek Nepal Himalayas staff transfer you back to respective hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 31-32: Reserve Day
We reserve two days for unseen circumstances. Sometime the flight to Kathmandu may delay or postpone because of bad weather condition or low visibility. Trek Nepal Himalayas will offer farewell party at typical Nepalese restaurant. On this day where Trek Nepal Himalayas leader & guide will submit the reports of Mt. Pumori Expeditions at concern Nepal Government Tourism department. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 33: Departure Day After wonderful experience around high Khumbu with successful climb on top of Mt. Pumori will back to homeland today. Trek Nepal Himalayas representative will escort to international airport as per flight schedule. Hope to see you again.
