In every walks with nature one receives more than he/she seeks while trekking in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Khopra Ridge Trek is one of the immensely beautiful but least trekked or untouched trekking trails in Nepal.
The trail leads through deeply lush thick pine, oak, rhododendron and bamboo forest with gorgeous vistas of high snowy Himalayas, crossing beautiful Magar, Gurung, Kami, Damai and Kshetri – Brahmin villages with its beautifully terraced farming lands. This trek is suitable both neophyte and active trekkers.
Khopra Community Trek is a perfect alternative to the enthralling sunrise trek (Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek). The holy Kaire Lake, astonishing Annapurna I (8091m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8163m) and green high hills, blooming dense rhododendron forest and the southern green slopes with terraced farming lands are the prime attraction of this trek.

After breakfast, we drive to Pokhara which is 200 km far from Kathmandu. We take our lunch in between this six hours bus ride. We also have option to take scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara, we explore Pokhara, renowned for its scenic beauty and lakeside stays. Overnight at Hotel.
After breakfast, get ready to Nayapul by private vehicle, it will take about onr hour. Then we will start our trek on foot follow half hour Modikhola, cross the river in Birethati, to follow Modi Khola valley passing Sauly Bazaar it takes about 2 hours, and start climb to steps. And continues walk to Ghandrku the beautiful Gurung village 5 to 6 hours walk from Nayapul. The beautiful Mountain View and Gurung culture is interest to see. Overnight at Teahouse.
A amazing place Tadapani is our set destination for this day. The trail passes through the dense blooming rhododendron forest. Tadapani means “far water”, so it’s on the ride of the hill. The place is famous for sunrise and sunset view of fishtail “Machhapurchhare”. Overnight at Teahouse.
After, breakfast, we get ready for trek to Bayli Kharka. The climb is gradual and soon you will emerge above the tree line to superb views of the Annapurna range. You will take lunch by a small stream and then continue to climb gradually though open countryside to reach a small pass, where the trail descends through rhododendron to an open clearing known as Bayli Kharka, and the lodge. From the lodge there are great views of Dhaulagiri Himal. Overnight at Teahouse.
After breakfast, we tight up our laces to start our trek. After lunch you will continue to walk through forest, ascending gradually and passing through several buffalo grazing pastures to reach a clearing and temporary herder’s settlement at Upper Chistibung, where you will stay in the small community lodge. To reach the ridge at Kopra, you will embark on a steady climb that carries you above the tree line. This area is noted for wildlife, so you should keep your eyes open for Himalayan tahr and Danfe pheasant. The best way to tackle the climb is to ascend steadily, take your time and rest as often as you wish.
You will reach the lodge on Kopra Ridge in time for lunch and will be greeted by more awe-inspiring views. This extraordinary panorama includes Annapurna South, towering directly above you at only six kilometers away, with Fang and Nilgiri prominent to the north. Across the depths of the Kali Gandakhi Valley, the Dhaulagiri Himal dominates the entire western skyline. The Kopra Community Lodge is the highlight of our work in the region. Early in the morning we get ready, to Explore around Khopra Ridge(Dadha). After breakfast, we start hike to reach Khayar Lake which is situated at the elevation of 4600 meters above from the sea level. After 9-10 hours steady walk, we can meet our target. We only recommend that hike to Khyar lake if you are physically fit otherwise it may create problem is the way because there is no any hotel and Teahouse for overnight stay.
From Khopra Danda you could hike to Thanti (around 4200m. high) and come back. It will take about 6 to 7 hours. At Thanti, there are some shelters for yak herders and shepherds to stay in during the monsoon. Khayar Lake is very famous for Hindu pilgrims belief; on the occasion of Janai Purnima , around the full moon of Saaun (July-August) Brahmin and Chhetri people must change the janai, which they wear looped over their left shoulder. In Janai Purnima there will be crowd of people from Nepal & India to celebrate Janai Purnima. There they wreath a statue of Shiva and throw coins at a temple and into the lake. One can explore mind-blowing diversity of landscape, different hanging massif cliffs etc. Overnight at Teahouse.
From Kopra Ridge you will descend off the hillside and continue steeply downhill. You will retrace the route back to Chistibung. You will then head to the village of Swanta, where you will stay overnight in the newly constructed lodge. Overnight at Teahouse.
The most visited placed around the world Ghorepani is our set destination for this day. You will descend through the village fields to a small river and take a quick look at the local water mill. From here you will cross the suspension bridge and head upwards to the village of Chittre, where you’ll join the main trekking trail. There is a further ascent to reach the village of Ghorepani one can embark breathtaking view of Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapurche and Dhaulagiri massif and other much more neighbor mountains. The stunning place Poon Hill is our next destination. The place is popular to explore mesmerizing sunrise and sunset view on the snow-capped Himalayan ranges. With the early morning sunrise, the golden peaks come into life. After an hour of the spectacular view, we return to Ghorepani. Again, from Ghorepani we start our trek after having heavy food. Walking along ridges and rhododendron forests, we pass Ulleri, a large Magar village to finally reach Tikhedhunga. Overnight at Teahouse/Hotel.
The queen city Pokhara is our set destination for this day. After breakfast, we tight up our laces and luggage back to Nayapul to take scenic drive to Pokhara. Overnight at Hotel.
After collecting wonderful memories during the trip we back to Kathmandu by tourist bus. It will takes about 5-6 hours along through Narayan Ghat, Muglin, Malekhu Galchhe, Thankot etc. Overnight at Hotel.

We went on a short tour to Bhutan and wow what an amazing place! It is so beautiful with its mountain regions and traditional culture. Visiting Tigers Nest monetarist was definitely the highlight of the Bhutan trip. We later returned to Kathmandu and made our way to Pokhara where we took off for the Annapurna Base Camp trek. This was my first time trekking and my fitness level is not the best but Badri and the boys (the sherpa's) were great at catering the trip to our needs. All timings along the way were perfect and we all got to ABC and back without a hitch. Badri and the boys made us feel like we were part of their family and were all smiles and fun. We all played cards together of a night where they taught us to play Dumbal and we taught them Uno. They went above and beyond to cater for us and were watching us like hawks for signs altitude sickness as we got closer to the top. All guest houses that we stayed out were pleasant and all had hot showers. Badri was well respected by the locals along the way and we were welcomed everywhere we went. I actually felt like a bit of a VIP on the mountain when we were trekking with Badri!
I really loved my experience in Nepal and all thanks to Trek Nepal Himalayas. I'm going to miss these guys and can't wait to go back!
I recently spent three and a half weeks holidaying in Nepal with Trek Nepal Himalayas. My partner and I arrived a few days early from the organised tour and Badri from Trek Nepal Himalayas was very accommodating to us by organising our extra accommodation, picking us up from the airport, and organised an extra day tour for us to Nagarkot which was really nice. They also arranged for us to visit the old palace (now a museum) and the Garden of dreams. After the rest of the group arrived we did some sight seeing around Kathmandu visiting the monkey temple, durbar square, the Boudhanath temple and the crematorium.
Our guide Nawin and and other guides arranged throughout the tour were all very knowledgeable of the history of each place that we visited and gave good commentary along the way. Next we went on a day trip to Badri's village. In organising this tour, our group wanted to help out after the earthquake. It turned out Badri's village was badly damaged by the quake and the school was destroyed.
When planing this trip we arranged with Badri for him to take us out to his village so we could make donations of stationary, toys and sporting goods to the school. The village was well off the beaten track and it was a unique opportunity to visit an area that tourists generally don't get to see. The scenery along the way was magic and the drive was quite an adventure. When we arrived the whole village was out to give us a warm friendly welcome with marigold flower necklaces and we each received a blessing. The kids were so excited to see us and were over the moon to receive our donations of stationary, sporting goods and toys.I t was a truly beautiful experience and these memories will stay in my heart forever. This went so well that Badri is now putting together optional side tours for future tour groups to visit his village and villages like his for tourists to make donations to the local schools. I highly recommend you do this as it is such a feel good moment and the emotional joy of it all will is so overwhelming it will make you teary.
A group of us trekked to Everest Base Camp with Trek Nepal Himalayas recently. It was a great trip that was full of memorable moments and amazing views. Our guide Badri was very patient with each of us. He was knowledgeable, encouraging, accommodating and helpful. He not only provided excellent guide services and made sure the group had a safe trip, but also took care of his porter team. Our trip wouldn’t be this successful without the encouragement and support from Badri and the assistant guide Karan. Three weeks with Trek Nepal Himalayas was an incredible experience. Our adventure included a day tour of Kathmandu, Everest flight with champagne at sunrise, flights to Bhutan with a few days touring around there. Our highlight in Bhutan was the climb to Tiger's Nest monastery and the amazing views from there.
Ten days trekking to Annapurna Base camp was wonderful. Our guide Badri made sure all our needs were met along the way. Nawin, our first in charge was very accommodating as well as the other 3 porters who lugged our stuff so we only had to carry a day pack.
Sunrise at Poon Hill was a must as well as putting up prayer flags at sunrise at the summit of our trip, Annapurna base camp. Just fab.
