Rice Planting Trip

Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza sativa (Asian rice) or Oryza glaberrima (African rice). As a cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world’s human population, especially in Asia. Usually, all trekkers who visit Nepal they say Dal, BHAT power 24 hours but only few travelers know how the Bhat (rice) is planted in Nepal. With the advent of monsoon, Ropai (Paddy Planting) is a very important occasion in the agriculture calendar of Nepal. In Nepal, the large portion of economics is dominated by agriculture & tourism. The agriculture sector contributes almost 33 % to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In the age of 21st century, Farmers are using traditional agriculture method because of geographical diversity.  Farmers used oxen & plough for plowed and leveled the planting field for Rice planting.

The month of Ashad (Mid-June) – Bhadra (Mid-September) is considered as the best season for rice planting & is harvested in Kartik(mid-October) – Mangsir (mid-December).
