Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek 4 Days is one of the short, easy plus best trekking in Nepal. Poon Hill trekking offers to see the snowcapped mountains in short period. This amazing trekking also offers to explore the local culture and tradition of Ghorepani and Ghandruk village. This is a shorter version of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek 5 days. The route for the trekking is same but you will skip Tadapani(2600m.). Our Poon Hill 4 days trekking itinerary includes an extra day in Pokhara to allow you visit the wonderful Pokhara city.

The best time to Ghorepani poon hill trek 4 days trek is Spring(March-April) and Autumn (September-November) and Spring is the best season as the Rhododendron blooms around. Trekking Ghorepani in December is also possible. But Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek in monsoon is not recommended due to the heavy rainfall.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel(B)

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, one of our representatives will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. Take good rest and get refreshed of the jet lag. In the evening, you will be joining a welcome dinner organized by our team in an authentic Nepali restaurant with cultural program. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and preparation day

A full day Kathmandu Valley sightseeing is dedicated to introducing the City of Temples. This day you will be visiting four of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed sites. First, you will visit Soyambhunath- The Monkey Temple where you can see the handful of monkeys playing around. You can also collect a picturesque view of Kathmandu City from the top.

 

Then after, you will go to explore Pashupatinath- a temple dedicated to Hindus and is also popular Crematory Place. In Pashupatinath, you can also meet some Sadhu Baba. Then after you tour goes to Boudhanath. Boudhanath is the largest Buddhist Stupa in South Asia. The final place you will be visiting today is Kathmandu Durbar Square which is an ancient palace place. It is also the place of the KUMARI.

 

After sightseeing, you can pack the gears that you need for the trekking. Check the stuff and make sure everything is included. Overnight at hotel.

  • Oldest Hindu temple in Nepal dating back to the 5th century.
  • Pashupatinath temple interior is off limits to non-Hindus (foreigners/tourists) there’s quite a bit to see and experience around the rest of the area.

  Highlights of Kathmandu Durbar Square

  • locals of Kathmandu call it Hanuman Dhoka, it is named after the Monkey God, Hanuman.
  • World Heritage Site and history says that its design goes back to the 9/10th century complex consists of a lavish royal palace and around it is lots of temples dedicated to different Hindu gods and goddesses.
  • Living Goddess – The Kumari, a young girl who goes through the most rigorous selection test. She acknowledges the greetings of visitors from her balcony window and the shrine is believed to be built from just a single tree named Kastamandap – (the origin of the name – Kathmandu.)

  Highlights of Swoyambhunath

  • Locals believed that the original stupa existed 2000 years ago but the present stupa is said to be built after the 14th century.
  • Swoyambhunath means ‘ The shrine existing by itself’ – it is often called ‘The Monkey Temple’ as there are lots of monkeys scampering around
  • Stunning View of Kathmandu Valley
  • All around the complex, there are shrines and statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities side by side illustrating the religious harmony that exists between them

Day 3: Drive/Fly to Pokhara (6-7 hours drive or 30 minutes flight)

By Tourist Bus: – As your bus leaves early morning at 7 a.m., take an early breakfast and catch your bus from Tourist Bus Station. The journey to Pokhara is always wonderful as you will pass several small and big settlements via raging Trishuli River. On the way, the bus will stop for the lunch.

 

By Private Vehicle: – You can also drive to Pokhara with a private vehicle. Trek Nepal Himalayas arranges the private vehicle transportation to Pokhara on our client’s request. You are requested to add the request for the private vehicle while making the booking.

 

By Flight: Those who do not want to travel overland, or want to skip the long journey on the bumpy road can choose this option. The Flight will take around 30 minutes to get to Pokhara.

 

In Pokhara, you can finally check the gears and can hire or buy them if you have forgotten anything. In the evening walk around the wonderful Phewa Lake yourself. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Drive to Nayapul (1.5 hours drive) and trek to Ulleri (1960m./5-6 hours trek/ 8 km approx.)(L/D)

Take an early breakfast and get ready for the trekking. Today you will first take a short drive to Nayapul from Pokhara. From Nayapul, you will be starting your trekking. The trail from Nayapul is an easy trail where you walk through the stone paved steps passing several small villages. Just below Ulleri, you will be treated with the first glimpse of Annapurna South. Overnight in Ulleri at a teahouse.

Day 5: Trek to Ghorepani (2860m./6-7 hours/12km. approx.. )(Bed/Lunch/Dinner)

A tough yet wonderful trekking day. Today you will be trekking through the dense rhododendron forest. The hiking will be more special if it is in the spring as the Rhododendron blooms around with seven colors. Upon you reach Ghorepani, you will forget all the pains you had during the walking as the mountain views are just perfect and refreshing. Enjoy a hot cup of tea with awe-inspiring views of the mountains. Overnight at the teahouse.

Day 6: Hike to Poon Hill (3,210m./1 hour trek/2.5km approx.), trek to Ghandruk(2,600m./6-7 hours trek/15km. approx.)(Bed/Lunch/Dinner)

The best day of the trekking. Wake up early morning, take your torch light and start the hiking up to Poon Hill. It takes one hour to get up to Poon Hill from Ghorepani. At Poon Hill, you can collect the superb sunrise view in Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan ranges.

 

After collecting the amazing views, trek back to Ghorepani for the breakfast, then after start your trek to Ghandruk via Tadapani. On the way to Ghandruk, the wonderful views of the mountains accompany you. Overnight at Ghandruk.

  4. Deurali 3106 meters to Ban Thanti 3180 meters takes 1.5 hours => Lunch Place
  5. Ban Thanti 3180 meters to Tadapani 2630 meters takes 1.5 hours
  6. Tadapani 2630 meters to Bhaise Kharka takes 1.5 hours
  7. Bhaise Kharka to  Ghandruk 1940 meters takes 2 hours (View Annapurna South, Himchuli, Fistail (Machhapurche),  Gagapurna, Annapurna III etc. )=> Overnight Stay

Day 7: Trek back to Nayapul (950m./4-5 hours trek/ 7 km approx.) and drive back to Pokhara(820m./1.h hours)(include Breakfast)

From Ghandruk, you will trek back to Nayapul again. From Nayapul, you will drive back to Pokhara with a private vehicle. In Pokhara, you can take good rest. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: An extra day in Pokhara:

An extra day in Pokhara is always worthwhile. Do boating on Phewa Lake, visit Tal Barahi Temple, Gupteshwor cave plus the Devis Falls this day. You can also do several other adventure sports including, Paragliding, Ultralight, Bungee Jumping, Zip Flyer or you can just rent a mountain bike and paddle around the City of the Lakes. Enjoy the free day. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Drive/Fly to Kathmandu (6-7 hours drive or 30 minutes flight):

Best Seasons

Spring (March-May)

Spring is one of the best seasons for trekking Ghorepani Poon Hill. As you trek through the rhododendron forest you can see the rhododendron blooming around.

Autumn (September-November) 

Autumn is another best season for trekking Ghorepani Poon Hill. This time around, the views gets clear and amazing.

Winter (December-February)

Trekking Ghorepani Poon Hill in winter is also possible. But the atmosphere will be cold and it mighty be foggy too.

Monsoon(June-August)

Trekking Ghorepani Poon Hill in Monsoon is not recommended because the heavy rainfall happens.

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)

It gets when you go up in the high mountains where the air is thin.
Symptoms

  • Headache
  • Problem on breathing
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Fatigue/loss of energy
  • Loss of appetite

Techniques for preventing AMS

  • Walk slowly and take small breaks during the trekking
  • Drink more water and avoid alcohol
  • Take acclimatization days during the trek
  • Avoid smoking
  • Eat light and high-calorie diets, foods in rich potassium is recommend
  • Get prepare with the warms clothes
  • It is better to try some hiking before going the high altitude.

Some Medication Suggestion of AMS

  • Paracetamol and Ibuprofen for headaches
  • Anti-sickness medicines, like promethazine for nausea
  • Acetazolamide to prevent and treat high altitude sickness

Common AMS treatment

  • Descend down to the lower altitude and go up again once you feel better. If it does not improve even after descending or get worse then you should see the doctor.
  • Take the suggested medicine, take ibuprofen or paracetamol for a headache, if you feel sick then take anti-sickness medicines.
  • Always share your companions if you are not feeling well so that they can help you before it is too late.

You are requested to provide a photocopy of the passport and Nepal visa. Also, please provide us 3 fresh passport size photographs.

Accommodation
We will provide you 3-star category hotels in Kathmandu. During the trekking, you will be using the teahouses.

Foods 
Foods, you get during the trekking is safe and healthy. In the altitude, we recommend you to eat the local food and the vegetarian. Our guides are knowledgeable will take you to the best places for the food.

Water 
During the trekking, you can get the bottled water easily and it cost US$ 2 in the low elevations and US$ 3-4 in higher elevations. Next option would be, taking 1 or 2-liter water bottle plus the water purifier with you so that you can use tap or spring water.

Trekking staffs
All of our trekking guides/porters are license holder, highly experienced and professionals and always dedicated to making your trip in the Himalayas an amazing one.

Flight Delays
Sometimes flights delay to and from Lukla are expected. In the worst case, if you cannot fly in/out  Lukla, then we will arrange the sharing helicopter which normally cost US$ 500 extra per person.
