Trip Overview


A classic Everest Trekking, Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek is the trail taken by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenjing Norgay in 1953 A.D during the first summit of the Mount Everest. It is a longer version of the EBC trek and suits for trekkers wishing a long trekking in Himalayas. This wonderful trekking combines visiting Sherpa Capital, the wonderful Tengboche Monastery and eventually Everest Base Camp.  A hike up to Kalapathar- best view point to see highest peaks including Everest at sunrise is always spectacular.


The major highlight of the Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek is visiting of Sherpa Capital in Namche Bazar, exploring the Sherpa cultures and the traditions, next visiting the Tengboche Monastery which is biggest Buddhist monastery of the Everest region, leaving the footprint in Everest Base Camp and next the magnificent views of sunrise from Kalapathar.

The best trekking season of Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek are spring (May-June) and autumn (September-November).

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1335 meters)

Upon your arrival in Tribhuvan International airport one of Trek Nepal Himalayas representative will welcome you and will transfer you to the hotel. Take a good rest and get refreshed from the jetlag. Overnight at Hotel.



Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing (1334 meters)

The full day Kathmandu valley sightseeing is dedicated to introuduce some of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed sites in Kathmandu including, Soyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Enjoy visiting some of the wonderful places in Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel.


Day 3: Kathmandu to Jiri (2100 meters/7-8 hrs)

After breakfast, we will catch our bus and will start our journey to Jiri. One the way we can collect some wonderful views of mountains including Ganesh Himal, -Langtang Lirung and Dorje Lakpa. It takes  7-8 hours to get Jiri from Kathmandu. O/N


Day 4: Jiri to Bhandara:(2370 meters/6 hrs trek)

Start the trekking through dense forests. We then cross a beautiful Sherpa village Mali and then the bridge to Shivalaya continue our trekking to reach Bhadara for overnight.


Day 5: Bhandar to Sete ( 2650 meters/5-6hrs trek)

The trail first passes Baranda to reach Likhu Khola. Further we continue climbing to Kenja-small village of Newars and Magars. We then cross Lamjura Pass will reach Sete. Stay overnight at Sete.


Day 6: Sete to Junbesi (3530 meters/6-8 hrs trek)

The trail goes through the mountain forest of rhododendron and climb up to Goyom and then top of the Lamjura pass. We then descend down through the field and will finally reach Junbesi for overnight.


Day 7: Junbesi to Nuntala ( 2980 meters/7-8 hrs trek)

The trail first crosses the Junbesi Khola and head towards Phaplu. From there it passes through the forest of blue pine and oak and climb up to Khurtang where we can get glimpse of Everest, as well as Thamaserku and Mera peaks. Further we will trek to Nuntala for overnight. Overnight at Nuntala.


Day 8: Nuntala to Bupse (2300 meters/7 hrs trek)

From Nuntala, we take descend trail to Dudhi Koshi River. We then we will walk through several Sherpa and Magar villages before entering the forest to reach Jubhing. From Jubhing we descend down and cross Khari Khola. From there we take ascending trail to reach Bupse. Overnight at Bupse.


Day 9: Bupse to Choplung (2860 meters/6-8 hrs trek)

From Bupse, enter the next valley and descend across the river. As you round the bottom of Khari La valley, you will see Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang in front of you. Follow the valley for about three hours, slowly climbing out of it and up to the ridge. Entering the next valley, you will see the holy mountain of Khumbiyula. Climb upwards to meet the main trail from Lukla. You will pass a spectacular waterfall and gorge before emerging out into the pasture land surrounding Choplung. Overnight at Choplung.


Day 10: Choplung to Namche Bazaar (3420 meters/6-8 hrs trek)

Take breakfast and get ready for the trekking. This day we first trek to Phakding and from then we follow the Dhudhkoshi river and eventually trek upto Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is widely famous as Sherpa Capital and is the trading center of Khumbu region. Overnight at Namche Bazar.


Day 11: In Namche Bazaar (3440 meters)

Walk up to the Everest view point to glimpse your final destination and visit the local cultural museum. Overnight at Namche Bazar.


Day 12: Namache Bazar to Tengboche( 3870m./5-6 hrs)

A wonderful day of trekking where we will be accompanied by the magnificent views of Mt Everest, Mt Nuptse, Mt Lhotse and close views of Thamserkhu and Amadablam. Tengboche is one of the best mountain view point also has the biggest Buddhist Monastery of Everest Region. Enjoy. Overnight.


Day 13: Tengboche to Dingboche(4,360/6-7 hrs)

Pass several Chortens and Mani walls and small villages plus  a village named Pangboche where the oldest Monastery of Everest Region is located. We can also collect the amazing views of mountains from Dingboche. Overnight.


Day 14: Acclimatization day in Dingboche

A rest day in Dingboche. It is better to hike Nagarstang hill before lunch. After lunch,take rest at Dingboche. Overnight.


Day 15: Dingboche to Lobuche(4940m./5-6 hrs)

From Dingboche, the trail gradually climb up to Duglha. We then cross Duglha Pass the beginning of Khmubu Glacier and gradually trek up to Labuche. In Labuche we can find some typically stone design houses. Overnight.


Day 16: Labuche to Gorakshep(5,170m./7-8 hrs)

Everest Base Camp (5,364m./17,594ft.)-Gorakshep: Day when we catch our ultimate dream. This day we start early morning from Labuche. The trail first go to Gorakshep for lunch. From Gorakshep we further hike up to Everest Base Camp. We can spend some time in Everest Base Camp. After then we trek back to Gorakshep for overnight. We can still get the superb views of mountains from our teahouse as well. Overnight.


Day 17: Gorakshep to Kalapathar(5545m.)-Pheriche(4280m./6-7 hrs)

Early morning, hike Kalapathar (5545m.)- Best mountain view point which offers the stunning views including:Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and other neighboring peaks. Enjoy the picturesque views. Then we descend dow to Pheriche for overnight.


Day 18: Pheriche to Namche(4-5 hrs)

An easy walking day. With 4 hours gentle walk from Pheriche we reach Namche Bazar. Same way back via Tengboche. Overnight.


Day 19: Namche to Phakding (4-5 hrs)

The trail descends steeply via Dudh Koshi River then passes Jorsalle and Monjo before reaching Phakding.  Overnight.


Day 20: Phakding to Lukla(3-4 hrs)

Final day of the trekking. Take a gentle walk back to Lukla where we will wait for the next day flight. Overnight at Lukla.


Day 21: Fly back Kathmandu

Take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you can do some last minute shopping in Thamel. Overnight.


Day 22: Fly back home

You will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for returning flight. We hope to see you again in Nepal.
