“Chasing angels or fleeing demons, go to the mountains”. Manaslu Larke La Pass Trekking is one of the highly hazardous trekking routes in Manaslu region of Nepal. Manaslu is the 8th highest Himalayan ridge of the world lies at the elevation of 8163 meters and is located in the west-central Part of Nepal near to the Tibet border.


Larke Pass is an unspoiled trekking route in the Manaslu region because Nepalese government only permitted in 1991 AD. Manaslu Larke La Pass Trekking offers a combination of rich cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty, and biological diversity. During this trip, one can see 10 peaks above 6500 meters such as Manaslu peak (8156m), Larke Peak, Naike Peak, Lamjung, Phungi(South Face), Himlung (NW), Cheo Himal etc.


The highest point reached along the Manaslu Larke pass trekking route is the Larke La at an altitude of 5160 meters above from the Sea Level. The spectacular Larke pass trek begins from the historic center of Gorkha after 6-7 hours scenic drive from Kathmandu. The journey pass through ethnic Gurung settlement, rhododendron & oak forests. Any physical fit person can do Larke La pass trek anytime from March to May in Spring Season and September to November in the autumn season.

Day 1: Drive to Sotikhola(700m./6-7 hours trek/ 150km. approx. ) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

Early morning, you will catch your bus from New Bus Park to Sotikhola. Along the way, you will pass several small and big settlements. Once you arrive in Soti Khola, your guide will transfer to the teahouse for the overnight. Overnight at the teahouse.


Day 2: Sotikhola to Machha Khola (869m./6-7 hours/12 km. approx.) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

Here you start your trekking. The trail is an easy trekking trail. Along the way, you will cross the small Gurung settlement called Lapubesi. From there you will continue you trekking through Khanibesi and ultimately to Machha Khola. From Machha Khola you can collect the North East view of Ganesh Himal. Overnight at a teahouse.


Day 3: Machha Khola to Jagat (1340m./7-8 hours/15 km. approx.) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

From Machha Khola the trails slowly ascend to Khorlabesi which offers you the wonderful view of Ganesh Himal. Along the way, at Yaru Phat you can see an amazing waterfall. You then trek through the rock and stone paved trail. Just before Jagat, you will pass a bridge that is made of the rock. From Jagat, you can enjoy the superb views of Sringi Himal. Overnight at a teahouse.


Day 4: Jagat to Deng(1860m./6-7 hours/12km. approx.) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

The trail to Deng is mostly rough at uphill.  Deng is another small Gurung settlement which offers the superb views of Siringi Himal. Mani wall is another attraction of Deng. Overnight at the teahouse.


Day 5: Deng to Namrung (2630m./6-7 hours trek/12km. approx.) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

The trail from Deng to Ghap combines uphill, downhill and the easy trekking path. From Deng you will first get to Ghap, then you will trek through the dense pine and rhododendron forest to get Namrung for the overnight. Namrung is a small Gurung village which offers the stunning views of Siringi Himal and Ganesh Himal. Namala Gompa is another attraction of Namrung. Overnight at Namrung.


Day 6: Namrung to Lho (3180m./4-5 hours/9km. approx.) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

The trail from Namrung to Lho is an easy trekking route. The wonderful view of Manaslu mountain greets us all the way. At Lamagaon you can collect the magnificent views of Himchuli. Little ahead, Sho welcomes with wonderful views of the Manaslu North face and Naike Peak. From Lho you can catch the panoramic view of Manaslu Massif. Rimung Monastery and the Mani walls are the another attractions of Lho. Overnight at Lho.


Day 7: Lho to Samagaon(3520m./4-5 hours trek/8 km. approx.) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

Walk through the Mani walls then pass a big Chortens before Shyala then you will continue the trekking to Samagaon. Manaslu will accompany you all the way to Samagaon. Samagaon is a wonderful Gurung village with Tibetan like traditions and culture plus the views of Manaslu, Larke peak and Naike Peak is absolutely fantastic. Overnight at a teahouse.


Day 8: Acclimatization day. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

An extra day in Samagoan is always worthwhile. Today you can either hike up to Manaslu Base Camp(4400m.) or visit the wonderful Birendra Tal. On the free time, you can just relax. Overnight at the teahouse.


Day 9: Samagaon to Samdo (3875m./4-5 hours trek/8km.approx. ) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

From Samagaon, you will take steep uphill trail first to Kyonggma Kharka where you can see the stone huts plus long Mani walls. Samdo will welcome you with stunning views of Naike and Pangboche peak. You can also explore the Taka Chouling Gompa in Samdo. Overnight at Samdo.


Day 10: Samdo to Dharamsala (Larkya Phedi) (4460m./4-5 hours trek/8km approx.) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

The trail from Samdo first ascends to Larkya Bazar which is a fair seasonal Tibetan market. Further, you will trek to Larkya Phedi. You can enjoy the superb views of Larkya Peak and Naike Peak from Dharamsala. Overnight.


Day 11: Larkya Phedi to Larkya La pass(5160m.), further to Bimthang (3590m./6-7 hours trek/12 km. approx. ) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

One of the tough trekking day where you will first walk through the Moraine route to the pass. You can see the Larkya Glacier along the way. During the pass, you can enjoy the magnificent views of Kanguru, Annapurna II, Himlung Cheo Himal, Gyaji Kang, Larkya Peak, Namjung Himal plus Ranta Chuli.After Larya La pass the trail is steep descent plus grassy moraine. As it is rock fall area walk carefully.

Upon your arrival in Bumthang, you can take a good rest with stunning views of Lamjung, Manaslu, Phungi south face, Himlung plus Cheo Himal. Overnight hotel.


Day 12: Bimthang to Dharapani(1963m./7-8 hours trek/15km. approx. ) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

First, descend down to Hampuk, a rock shelter cave then to Yak Kharka. Further, you will be trekking through Gho-a Gurung village. Further more you will trek to Tilije for the overnight. Overnight.


Day 13: Dharapani to Besisahar (760m./5-6 hours drive/80km. approx. ). (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

This day you drive to Besisahar from Dharapani. Overnight.


Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu (1334m./6-7 hours trek/ 150km. approx.): (Breakfast and Dinner Included)

The final day of the trek, this day you will drive back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you will have time for the last-minute shopping. Overnight.

Best seasons:


Spring (March-May)

Spring is one of the best seasons. As you trek through the rhododendron forest you can see the rhododendron blooming around plus the views also get clearer

Autumn (September-November)

Autumn is another best season for trekking Manaslu circuit Trek. This time around, the views gets clear and amazing.

Winter (December-February)

Not recommended.


Manaslu Larke la Pass Trekking in Monsoon is not recommended because the heavy rainfall happens and the Flights are heavily distributed.
