An Upper Mustang Trek is a fabulous opportunity to discover wonders of architecture, culture, and tradition of the people of Mustang which is influenced by Tibetan Culture. A local guide, special permit from the immigration department of Nepal which will be arranged by Trek Nepal Himalayas for your convenience and at least two guests are required to conquer Mustang trek. Nowadays foreigners are welcome to Upper Mustang for a permit fee of US$ 500 (to be arranged through a Trek Nepal Himalayas and valid for 10 days, each additional day costs US$ 50).
Amazing altitude variations and environmental miscellany make this area run over with expected prettiness. The thousands years old monastery, the hot natural springs in Tato Pani , the pilgrimage site of Buddhist and Hindu` s “Mukti Nath”, caves , different stunning landscapes, gorgeous view of Dhaulagiri at 8167 meters (26,795ft) and Annapurna I at 8091 meters (26,545ft), trekking through world deepest gorge Kali Gandaki into the world highest region of Lo-Mangthang Valley a city of four story palace are the major highlights of Upper Mustang Trek.
In Mustang will be surrounded by more than 35 mountains of over 6000 meters in height. We will trek through tough routes from the mighty elevated stiff routes to the flat paths. The Upper Mustang trek will commence from Jomsom after a scenic flight from the lake city Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Spring, Autumn and Summer’s season are considered as the best season to conquer the Upper Mustang Trekking in Mustang region.
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,334m.)
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, A Trek Nepal Himalayas representative will be there for your warm welcome and help you to get to your hotel. The evening will be for a welcome dinner with Trek Nepal Himalayas staff in one of the typical Nepali restaurant. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing (1,334m
After breakfast, we will commence sightseeing program from Pashupatinath. The sightseeing program is focused to introduce some highlights of UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu such as Kathmandu Durbar square, Swoyambhunath, also known as Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath temple of Lord Shiva and Bouddhanath a Buddhist place. After sightseeing evening will be for trek briefing and preparation of things per need.
Day 3: Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara(820m.)
After breakfast, we will take a scenic drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu Pokhara following Trishuli River (200 Km.) which takes 6 hours approx. Pokhara is the starting and ending point of our trekking where we can find many shops, pubs, bars, and restaurant nearby the famous lakes. We will stay overnight in Pokhara.
Day 4: Fly to Jomsom and Trek to Kagbeni (2,858m. /3-4 hours)
After early breakfast, we will transfer to airport for a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. After reaching Jomsom we will trek onwards to Kagbeni. Kagbeni is the main check point to show permits. Overnight in Kagbeni.
Day 5: Kagbeni to Chele (3,050m. /5-6 hours)
Today we will be trekking from Kagbeni to Chele. With some ups and downs with picturesque places, we reach today&rsquos overnight place Chele. Overnight in Chele.
Day 6: Chele to Gelling (3,500m. / 4-5 hours)
Geling (3500m) is our today`s destination. After breakfast in Chile, we set off to Gelling. It will take us four to five hours to reach Gelling. Overnight in Gelling.
Day 7: Gelling to Charang (3,620m. /4-5 hours):
From Gelling, our trail slowly ascends up and head towards our today’s destination Charang. About four to five hours walk finally takes us to Charang. Overnight in Charang.
Day 8: Charang to Lo-Mangthang (3840m. /5-6 hours):
Lo- Mangthang(3700m) is a historical town known for known for thousand years&rsquo old monasteries, caves, arts and architecture of the local tribes. Annapurna I, Tilicho, Nilgiri, and Bhrikuti are the peaks we see during today walk. Today, we will pass a windy pass of Lo a view point of Lo-Mangthang Valley. Overnight at Lo-Mangthang.
Day 9: Acclimatization day
During the acclimatization day in Lo- Mangthang, we will explore Mangthang Valley, Mustang King Palace, monasteries, caves and cave temples that typify upper Mustang. Enjoy exploring around. Overnight at Lo-Mangthang.
Day 10: Lo-Mangthang to Ghami (3545m. / 5-6 hours)
start trekking early morning and with a five to six hours walk, we will finally reach to Ghami. Overnight in Ghami.After having an awesome day in Lo-Mangthang, today we trek to Ghami. We will
Day 11: Ghami to Samar (3,356m. /4-5 hours)
From Ghami, today our trail head towards to a beautiful village Samar. With four to five hours walk we will reach today&rsquos destination Samar. Overnight.
Day 12: Ghami to Kagbeni (2,858m. /7-8 hours)
This day will be a quite long walking day. Setting destination Kagbeni, we start our trekking early morning and by evening we will reach Kagbeni. Overnight at Kagbeni.
Day 13: Kagbeni to Jomsom (2,700m. /3-4 hours)
Easy walking day in compare of the previous day. Today, we will trek back to Jomsom from Kagbeni. After reaching Jomsom, we will have enough time to explore around. Overnight in Jomsom.
Day 14: Fly to Pokhara (820m. / 30 minutes flight)
After early breakfast, again we will take a scenic flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. After reaching Pokhara we have enough time to explore the city of Lake. Overnight at hotel.
Day 15: Drive back Kathmandu (1,334m. / 6 hours)
Last day of our Upper Mustang Trek. Today we will travel back to Kathmandu overland to the see the green and fertile landscape of Gorkha and Dhading districts or enjoy spectacular mountain views by plane. In evening you will be joining the group dinner and drinks to celebrate your trekking success with Trek Nepal Himalayas.
Day 16: Departure from Kathmandu
A Trek Nepal Himalayas representative will accompany you to the airport to catch your returning flight if you haven`t significant time to conquer another trip. We hope to see you again soon! Namaste!!
