Thorong La Pass Trekking is one of the most popular trekking tours in Nepal. This trekking is also known as Annapurna Round Trek. In this Thorang La Pass trekking (Annapurna Round Trekking) you can see a different topographical view of Nepali Landscapes.
The trek passes through a countless biosphere as you climb upwards from subtropical jungle to the high and very dry region that resembles the Tibetan Plateau. The area also has a great variety of cultural diversity with the various tribal and ethnic groups that inhabit the area, residing as they have for centuries in peace and harmony.
Thorong La Pass trek takes you to the world’s deepest gorge – the Kali Gandaki gorge and then over the highest pass in the world – Thorang La at an elevation of 5,416 m. The trek goes through the remote and beautiful valley of Manang village and then to the spiritual place of Muktinath.
In these 13 days you could lose with the nature around treks and also your eyes couldn’t want to skip from bright snow-capped mountains.
A preeminent Thorang La Pass trail commence from Besisahar and ends to Jomsom where we take the scenic flight to Pokhara if we have not held such energy to trek again from there to return. The month of March – April (spring season) and September –November (Autumn season) is considered as best Annapurna Round trekking season in Nepal.
Early in the morning we set off from Kathmandu and take scenic long drive towards Nepal mid west, journey leads to Beshishar town then on the dirt road to Khudi, Bhulbhule and Ngadi following the Marsyangdi River upstream, drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to Syange, from here with a slow climb leaving the Marsyangdi River behind to reach first overnight stop at Jagat/Syange village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers. Overnight in Hotel/Tea House.
From Jagat village morning walk leads on a gradual winding path to Chamje, and back at Marsyangdi River to crossing on the eastern bank and into forested area, with superb views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges, as the walk advances on the wide path to a nice village of Tal Besi, Here for lunch break, and then another 2-3 hours walk leads at Dharapani village for overnight stop, Dharapani a nice village situated on the junction of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail. Overnight stay at Hotel or lodge/Tea House.
After Dharapani walk along the wide winding trail into serene rhododendron and pine forest passing villages of Bagachap and Danque, then to Timang village from here onwards into more Buddhist culture village with grand view of Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft, from Timang village few hours trek leads to Koto and then to Chame town for overnight stop, Chame a large and major town of Manang area and as well a head quarter of Manang district. Overnight at Hotel or Lodge/Teahouse.
From here onwards the air gets cooler and fresh as the walk leads close to mountains, morning walk leads through enchanting alpine forests of rhododendron and pine trees, following the Marshyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village walk follows uphill through alpine woodland to Dhukure Pokhari a small place with few teahouses and lodge overlooking Chulu’s and Pisang peak, with a lunch break here, walk descends to lower Pisang village for overnight stop. Overnight at Hotel or Lodge/Teahouse.
Pisang village offers great scenery of mountains and surrounding landscapes, from here altitude gains as the morning walk leads through a forest and with a short uphill with super views of staggering Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu’s and Pisang peak. As the walk reach flat valley at Hongde village, from here onward tree lines disappear for barren, arid landscapes with cold, dry arctic climate.
Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches at Manang village. Overnight at Hotel or Lodge/Teahouse.
An important and necessary rest day to get acclimatize before heading higher elevation and to Thorang-la pass, in Manang short hike and explore Manang village and valley, Manang a large village situated on windswept valley at the bank of Marsyangdi River beneath Annapurna and Gangapurna mountain range, a nice walk uphill for views of Gangapurna Glacier and the Manang emerald Lake. Overnight at Hotel or Lodge/Teahouse.
The trail from Manang to Yak Kharka is mostly uphill. Along the way, you will be passing several meadows where the Yak and horse grazes. A big stream having its source Chulu Peak is one of the attractions of the day. You will be reaching Yak Kharka late afternoon. In the free time, you can walk around. Overnight in the hotel.
The trail from Yak Kharka gradually ascends up to Ledar. From there you will further ascend up to Thorang Phedi. Morning walk advances around high area, heading closer to the base of Thorang-la as the walk leads to cross a bridge and then a climb along the riverbank of Jarjung, as the walk leads at Thorung Phedi, here depending upon the physical conditions of the clients, if all goes well an hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop. Overnight at Hotel or Lodge/Teahouse.
Set off early in the morning to reach the Pass around mid-day. The trail becomes instantly steep after leaving Phedi but not hard to follow. 4-6 hours of ascending up the lead to the apex of the Pass, which is decorated with prayer flags, a chorten, and stone cairns built by travelers. The views of the Annapurna Himal from the pass are well worth the climb. Further, the trail descends steeply before reaching Chabarbu. From there we cross meadows, drops into a deep gorge, climbs out again and follows a wide trail to Muktinath, a pilgrimage site held in great respect by both Hindus and Buddhists. Overnight in the teahouse.
After Muktinath rest of the journey will be easier with moderate walks all the way to Jomsom as the walk drops to 1,200m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley, this pleasant trail reaching the vast Kaligandaki river valley with a small break at Ekalebhatti.
From here gets windy in the afternoon time, a few hours walk to Jomsom, headquarter of Mustang region with an airstrip located above Kaligandaki River.
Here at Jomsom with last night in the mountain village, celebrate with local apple products like cider, brandy and juice this area from Kagbeni to Marpha & Larjung famous for delicious apple and its product. Overnight at Hotel or Lodge/Teahouse.
Early breakfast and transfer to Jomsom airport for sweeping short flight of 25 minutes to Pokhara, during airborne mesmerizing views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris and Annapurna range of mountains with rolling hills dotted with farm villages,
On reaching Pokhara airport transfer to respective hotels by the serene lake Phewa, afternoon free for individual activities or just relax and enjoy the views of the Annapurna Himalaya. Overnight at Hotel or Lodge/Teahouse.
By Tourist Bus: – As your bus leaves early morning at 8 a.m., take an early breakfast and catch your bus from Tourist Bus Station and drive back to Kathmandu. On the way, the bus will stop for the lunch.
By Private Vehicle: – You can also drive back with a private vehicle. Trek Nepal Himalayas arranges the private vehicle transportation to Kathmandu on our client’s request. You are requested to add the request for the private vehicle while making the booking.
By Flight: Those who do not want to travel overland, or want to skip the long journey on the bumpy road can choose this option. The Flight will take around 30 minutes to get to Kathmandu.In Kathmandu, you can do some last shopping in Thamel. Overnight at hotel.
